Wine O’clock with Segura Viudas Sparkling Wine

I’m always down to have a great time, especially with friends, and let me tell you about my new bestie: Segura Viudas Sparkling Wine!

A week back I was able to attend a party hosted by Segura Viudas, the ambiance was great and the setting, No. 3 Social, (one of the coolest rooftop bars in Wynwood) was everything but what stood out to me were the drinks. I’m no sommelier and I don’t know which wine goes with what food but what I do know is TASTE and Segura Viudas had my taste buds liking everything. There's nothing I enjoy more than a good wine with friends and Segura Viuda make sure we had a blast. we got to capture memories at the photo-booth, enjoy some bites with great music. We, especially, had fun trying all the different cocktails that they created with Segura Viudas. At the event, my absolute favorite drink was the cocktail made with watermelon, it was so refreshing and I swear I could drink it day or night, yummy!

I’m normally a fan of white wine but at the event I was able to taste some of Segura Viudas Rose wine and it made me believe change my mind. I enjoyed their white wine but the Rose really blew my mind. Not only was it my favorite because of the pretty color but this drink was soft bubbly and delish. With summer around the corner, there’s nothing better than a mixed Rose drink to set the mood, it’s light and fruity and has all the perfect ingredients for a great day.

After the event I found a couple of must try yummy cocktail recipes with Segura Viudas that I will for sure try.

Make My favorite Cocktail with Segura Viudas Sparkling Wine:

The Home Stretch

  • 1 bottle of Segura Viudas Brut, chilled
  • ½ cup of light brown sugar
  • ½ cup of dry wine (Sauvignon Blanc)
  • 2 pints of strawberries, hulled
  • 1 piece of vanilla bean, split lengthwise
  • 1 sprig of lemon verbena or lemon thyme
  • 6 wooden skewers, soaked in water

In a pot, combine the brown sugar and dry white wine with ½ cup of water and cook over medium heat, bring to a simmer and stir until the sugar is dissolved. Dice 6 strawberries and add them to the syrup along with the vanilla bean. Transfer the syrup into a heatproof bowl and add the sprig of lemon verbena. Let cool and refrigerate for at least an hour. Strain the syrup through a fine sieve set over a bowl.

In a pitcher, combine the syrup and the Cava. Serve in a highball glass over ice and garnish with strawberries and a lemon verbena sprig.
